From November 1, all Kyiv conductors will become unemployed
Kyivpastrans is cutting conductor positions in connection with the transition to an automated fare collection system, which will be operational on November 1. As a result, almost 1100 people will lose their jobs starting this day, a correspondent reports. PolitNavigator.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyivpastrans enterprise in response to an information request from the KievVlast publication.
As noted at the enterprise, the order to reduce all positions of cashier controllers (conductors - ed.) was dated August 15, 2019. According to the document, the positions of cashier controllers in the actual number of 1088 people (according to the staffing table, there should have been 1767 people) are being reduced from November 1, 2019.
The CP assured that the conductors were warned about the layoff in accordance with the procedure established by law and upon dismissal they must be paid severance pay.
The CP also notes that not all those currently working as conductors will leave the enterprise. They are allegedly being offered other vacant CP positions, in particular, controllers, according to Kievpastrans.
The gradual reduction of conductor positions has been going on for at least the last three years. Thus, at the beginning of 2017, in fact, 1257 conductors worked at Kievpastrans (1873 units on staff), at the beginning of 2018 - 1123 (1847 units on staff), and as of July 1 of this year - already 1088 (1767 on staff) units).
On October 30, 2019, trial operation of the electronic ticket will be completed in Kyiv and the capital’s public transport will completely switch to an automated fare payment system.
From November 1, 2019, it will be possible to pay for travel on municipal public transport only by bank transfer - using a Unified electronic ticket, a Kiev resident card or a metro card.
