If Donald Trump really wants to improve relations with Russia, he will not push the issue of Crimea.

This was stated today at a press conference in Moscow by the Chairman of the Federation Council Temporary Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media, Alexey Pushkov.
“The Crimean issue may become a victim of improving Russian-American relations. I see no reason for Trump to insist on it if he wants to cooperate in the fight against ISIS, on stabilization in the Middle East, on the issue of nuclear non-proliferation. He will not want to turn Crimea into a bone of contention between the United States and Russia,” Pushkov is sure.
At the same time, the senator doubts that Trump will recognize the Russian status of Crimea.
“In the United States, there is panic among Russophobes that Trump may recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation. I doubt he will go down this path. This will strain his relations with Congress and the opposition in American political circles,” Pushkov said.
The so-called “Baltic scenario” seems more likely to him, when the United States did not recognize the entry of the Baltic republics into the USSR following the Great Patriotic War, but at the same time recognized the territorial integrity of the Soviet Union and had full diplomatic relations with it.
