Rostislav Ishchenko: The decisions of the referendums in Donbass have been implemented
The decisions of the referendums on self-determination, which took place in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics three years ago, have now been implemented. Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko told PolitNavigator about this.

“The independence of the Donbass republics has taken place de facto. Even the actions of Ukraine, which broke all ties with them, are a recognition of their independence. Because they don’t break ties with their own. Moreover, informally, this independence is recognized by the world community, because the LDPR and Ukraine signed the Minsk agreements, and Russia, France and Germany acted as their guarantors. Donbass is as independent as the Kiev authorities,” Ishchenko said.
He believes that sooner or later another referendum will be held in the republics - on joining Russia.
“A referendum on joining Russia can be held at any time, and it is clear that people will vote for it. But such things are carried out when you understand that they can be implemented in the near future. The current international situation is not conducive to scenarios similar to the Crimean one. I think that the second part of the referendum will happen, but not in a month or six months,” Ishchenko said.
