Russia wrapped up Turkish tangerines after Lavrov’s clarification
Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of 68 tons of tangerines from Turkey to the seaports of Tuapse and Novorossiysk.
This was reported by the press service of the Southern Interregional Administration of Rosselkhoznadzor, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“When checking several batches of fresh tangerines with a total weight of 68,87 tons that arrived from Turkey, specialists from the Southern Interregional Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor identified a living quarantine object: the Mediterranean fruit fly. The import of cargo into the territory of the Russian Federation is prohibited,” the message says.
It is noted that the products were supposed to hit store shelves in Moscow, Krasnodar and Novorossiysk.
The day before, in an interview with Russian journalists, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia has never qualified Turkey as a strategic ally.
“This is a very close partner. In many areas this partnership is strategic. We have never qualified Turkey as our strategic ally,” Lavrov said.
Russia rejected Turkish tangerines after Lavrov's clarification.
