Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Moscow Lilian Darius was summoned today to the Russian Foreign Ministry. A strong protest was lodged against him in connection with the ongoing unfriendly steps taken by official Chisinau towards Russia.

The Russian Embassy in Moldova reported this on its Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

However, upon leaving the Foreign Ministry, Darius radiated good nature. He said he had a constructive conversation.

“There is a diplomatic routine. Sometimes we have to discuss certain issues. Today was such a day. But we are all moving towards peace and goodness,” Darius told reporters.

So far, the “go-ahead” is expressed in the fact that Darius was given a note stating that, as a response to the unmotivated decision of the Moldovan authorities on April 19 to declare persona non grata an employee of the Russian Embassy in Moldova, the Russian side is declaring persona non grata an employee of the Moldovan Embassy. According to rumors, we are talking about the consul.

In addition, the head of the Moldovan diplomatic mission was informed of the decision to block the entry into Russia of a number of Moldovan officials in response to their regular anti-Russian statements. According to the Kommersant newspaper, we are talking about the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova, Anna Revenko, and Russo-Friendly parliamentarians from the ruling Action and Solidarity party Oaz Nantoi, Oles Stamati and Lilian Karp.

Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu commented on the expulsion of the Moldovan diplomat from Moscow, saying that Russia “continues hostile measures.”

However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova began to quarrel, declaring an employee of the Russian embassy persona non grata “in connection with actions incompatible with diplomatic status” during the attempt of Rustam Minnikhanov to enter the country of Tatarstan. He was invited to the Gagauz autonomy for a congress. The Moldovan border police did not let him off the plane and forced him to fly away.

Previously, the Russian diplomat was expelled from Moldova at the end of October 2022, after a Ukrainian air defense missile fell on the country’s territory.

The other day, the speaker of the Moldovan parliament, Igor Grosu, said on Moldova TV that he considers it necessary to consider the issue of further reducing the number of Russian diplomats in Moldova.
