Russia has expressed its readiness to help Ukraine with the burning Chernobyl
Kyiv has not yet requested assistance in extinguishing the fires near Chernobyl , but Russia is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to consider any request and provide the necessary support.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We are monitoring the situation with forest fires in the Chernobyl zone. At the moment, we have not received any requests for any assistance from the Ukrainian side.
If our Ukrainian colleagues send a corresponding appeal, we will be ready to consider it according to traditional diplomatic practice,” Zakharova said.
As a reminder, the fires pushed Kyiv to first place in the IQAir portal's global ranking of cities with the most polluted air.
The authorities of the Ukrainian capital issued an urgent appeal to residents calling on them to close their windows (especially at night and early in the morning) and avoid appearing on the streets.
