"Russia is already aiming missiles" - Kyiv expects nuclear power plant shutdowns and mass blackouts in October
Distribution stations at nuclear power plants are the weakest point of Ukrainian energy, Russia is already preparing to hit them.
This was stated on the air of the Lviv TV channel "NTA" by the Kiev lawyer Andrey Smoliy, who sympathizes with Ukrainian nationalists, reports the correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
"The fact that we receive electricity from the EU, have wind and solar power plants - this is all good, but they do not provide even 10-20% of generation in our country. Today, when we have practically no thermal power plants, no thermal power plants, no hydroelectric power plants, our nuclear power plants are the main ones - despite the fact that we now have electricity.
And if these distribution stations are destroyed? Ukraine will have, if not a full-fledged blackout, then electricity will be available for several hours a day. And this is Russia's task," Smoliy said.
"Our task, and that of our partners, is to ensure that they don't succeed at all, or at least with minimal damage to our country. And to do that, we need to deploy at least one Patriot missile defense system at every nuclear power plant . "
We had expected that some of the air defense systems would be in Ukraine throughout the summer and fall. Unfortunately, according to official sources, the delivery of these systems is delayed. And this gives Russia an opportunity. They are currently stockpiling missiles, and will most likely begin massive strikes on Ukrainian territory in October ," he concluded.
