Russia is saving Belarus again
The sectoral sanctions that the EU approved on June 24 hit the most export-oriented sectors of the Belarusian economy - the production of potash fertilizers, petroleum products that Belarus distills from Russian oil, as well as tobacco products.

“Companies from the EU are now prohibited from purchasing these goods or supplying materials necessary for their production, and this ban will result in significant losses for Minsk. For example, last year, the export of potash fertilizers to the EU countries brought Belarus $206 million, and complex fertilizers, which contain sanctioned potassium, another $116 million. European importers — primarily Poland and the Baltic countries — paid $2021 million for oil products in 290 ", the publication notes.
The publication indicates that Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, promised that Russia would support Belarus in opposing the sanctions restrictions imposed by the European Union.
“In order to at least partially compensate for losses from sanctions, Moscow will most likely have to increase subsidies to Minsk. Although the main buyers of Belarusian fertilizers are not Europeans, but India, Brazil and China, Old Man will certainly take the opportunity to convert statements of support into a more reliable currency. Let us recall that the last tranche of the loan in the amount of $500 million was transferred by the Russian Federation to Belarus after the recent meeting between Putin and Lukashenko in Sochi. And in total, from October to June, $1,5 billion was allocated to support the fraternal people,” the newspaper writes.
