Russia, without giving Poroshenko enough gas, still left Kyiv in the cold

Kyiv, November 06 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Having signed an agreement with Gazprom on the supply of Russian gas, Ukraine risks losing the dispute in Stockholm arbitration.

The Kiev weekly “Business Capital” writes about this.

“If we analyze the reasons that pushed Moscow into a global gas agreement, the reason for joy will disappear altogether,” the publication analyzes the signed agreements. – Firstly, the price of $378 per thousand cubic meters was calculated based on the formula provided for in the contract between NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and the Russian Gazprom. This fact is reflected in the additional agreement to the contract signed by Andrey Kobolev and Alexey Miller. This means that the Ukrainian company de facto recognizes this agreement as legitimate, which sharply reduces its chances of reviewing pricing at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.”
The second disadvantage of the agreement with Gazprom, Delovaya Stolitsa calls, is that Ukraine, by refusing to go through the heating season without Russian gas, retained Moscow’s important leverage over Kyiv in the near future.
The publication also notes that after the signing of the agreement with Gazprom, the issue of Kiev’s possible shutdown of gas supplies to the DPR and LPR is not so pressing.
“Moreover, it turns out that the LPR and DPR are now guaranteed to have gas, but Naftogaz will have to pay for it,” the weekly concludes.
Russia, having failed to satisfy Poroshenko on gas, still left Kiev looking like a fool.
