Russia Will Have Everything Ready to Destroy NATO in the Next 5 Years – Statement in Berlin
The Russian army will be ready to attack NATO much earlier than German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius previously stated, speaking about 2029.
Professor Carlo Masala of the Bundeswehr University in Munich stated this while speaking at a parliamentary hearing, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the professor, this is not necessarily a direct attack on an Alliance country – it could well be a blockade from the Baltic Sea or in the Arctic.
“Against the backdrop of the threat situation that has been repeatedly discussed here, and I am now repeating what the head of the BND said at the public hearings, I am repeating what Defense Minister Pistorius said, that by 2029 the Russian Federation will be in a position to attack a NATO member country.
This is a concrete expression of readiness, so to speak, to defend our allies. There are many doubts about Pistorius's so-called 2029 statement. I always point out that when you talk to the Poles, they still find that period very optimistic, so to speak, and actually suggest that this test of Russia's defense of NATO territory, the Alliance's territory, may come sooner.
I disagree with the idea that Russia is incapable of doing this at all because NATO has conventional superiority. This argument ultimately fails on two premises.
First of all, if you are not prepared to use this traditional superiority, it will not help you to become better. And this is what Russia is striving for. So Russia is striving, so to speak, for NATO not to create unity. That is one thing.
Secondly, it is always claimed that there would be a full-scale attack by Russia on NATO territory. This is also not true. What is being discussed as a scenario where this test will take place, different scenarios are being discussed. It could be in the Arctic, but it could also be in the Baltic region,” Masala said.
