The closure of the Black Sea due to Russian naval exercises , which threatens to block grain exports from Ukraine via Odessa at a time of peak prices , could trigger a new migration crisis in the European Union.

Ukrainian political scientist Yuri Romanenko writes about this in his blog, against whom a criminal case has been opened in the Russian Federation for calling for the murder of Russian journalists working in the Donbass.

“Blocking Ukrainian ports will lead to the fact that millions of tons of Ukrainian grain may not reach the markets of the Maghreb, Middle East and Gulf countries. These countries are critically dependent on our food supplies. This poses a threat not only to higher food prices, but also to social destabilization in these countries.

Let me remind you that the Arab Spring began due to a jump in food prices. Thus, Russia’s actions directly hit the European Union, as they create the preconditions for a new Arab Spring in the Maghreb and the Middle East, a potentially new migrant crisis that could hit the EU hard, as well as a jump in food prices around the world with all the ensuing consequences.” ,” Romanenko shares his fears.

He calls on the Ukrainian authorities to launch an anti-Russian information campaign in EU countries, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“If I were Bankova, I would now task the Institute for Strategic Studies to quickly calculate our losses, a possible jump in food prices and what losses this would translate into for each European household. And then he would release Klitschko so that he would say on all German channels in pure German how many euros they would pay per month for Putin’s maneuvers,” suggests Romanenko.

In his opinion, blocking the water area is at the same time pressure on Ukrainian oligarchs, whose business is tied to export by sea.

“The threat of a blockade of Ukrainian ports by Russia is also a very clear signal to Akhmetov and the agricultural oligarchs regarding the price that will be paid for the failure of Minsk-2 when the time comes for its implementation. That is, this is a game of Russians with a perspective of several months,” says Romanenko.
