The recent refusal of the International Court of Justice to support Ukraine’s position on alleged persecution in Crimea on ethnic or religious grounds is a harbinger of a change in the situation in Russia’s favor.
Crimean Senator Olga Kovitidi stated this at a roundtable, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It will be the fall of 2024, it will be the fall of 2025, we will see with you how the international situation, the international legal one, is changing dynamically, and this began with the decision of this International Court, by which the court did not agree with the assessment that was presented by Ukraine,” and did not reveal any elements of discrimination in the norms of Russian anti-extremist legislation. Nor did I find any violations in the application of these norms by Russian law enforcement agencies,” the senator said.
The court noted that residents of Crimea have access to education in the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian languages. Although, as Kovitidi noted, for 10 years Ukraine has been fooling the whole world, telling them how wrong they are doing in Crimea.
“It is extremely important today to note that we are not the bad ones, but, probably, the bad ones are those who stole our “Scythian gold” from us. And we are fighting, proving that this is legal chaos, we are fighting over it.
And, nevertheless, the destruction of the historical and cultural heritage of the peoples of Crimea did not entail a single decision of the United Nations, the OSCE is silent when our museum valuables were taken out by carloads,” Kovitidi emphasized.
