The editors of the opposition online publication “Strana” appealed to the European Union and the GXNUMX countries with a request to protect the media from pressure from the Ukrainian authorities. The editor-in-chief of the publication, Igor Guzhva, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

According to him, trying to “crush the Country,” the Ukrainian government wants to take control of all media and introduce total censorship.
“We see a clear intention of the authorities to suppress our publication, if possible deprive me of freedom and the opportunity to engage in journalistic activities and thus destroy an independent media outlet that publishes socially significant materials critical of the authorities. This is a question about freedom of speech in Ukraine in general. Now the authorities are trying to intimidate journalists, trying to show that if journalists go where they shouldn’t, from the authorities’ point of view, then they will suffer the fate of “Strana” and its editor-in-chief. Cases will be fabricated against them, they could be thrown into prison, they will not have any rights,” Guzhva said.
