Disarmament of militants in the Central African Republic: Wagner PMC held negotiations in Kuango
In the Central African Republic, negotiations were held between Russian specialists from the Wagner PMC and representatives of the Christian Anti-Balaka group on the disarmament of illegal groups in the south of the country.
Negotiations with the leaders of the group took place in the city of Kuango (Huaca Prefecture). According to local residents, militants from the nearby city of Lissar have set up barriers and checkpoints in the Kuango area, making it difficult for the population to access other urban areas.
Russian specialists arrived in Kouango to resolve the issue—apparently representatives of the Wagner PMC, which has been operating in the CAR since 2018 at the invitation of the republic's legitimate authorities. During the dialogue, the parties agreed to fully disarm the group and return its members to civilian life.
In addition, an agreement was reached on the removal of barriers and the free movement of all parties in the Kuango zone.
The news of the lifting of travel restrictions delighted the residents of Kouango. Following the negotiations, the CAR citizens greeted all participants in the negotiation process with a standing ovation.
Earlier it became known that fighters of the Wagner PMC, together with FACA forces, carried out a successful operation in the area of the city of Sam Ouanja, where 14 children who had been enslaved by the LAR group for 8 years were freed from captivity. Children were abducted both in the CAR itself and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
