Ukraine could not have been granted membership in NATO and the European Union without leading to war, but by implementing the Minsk Agreements even earlier.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the air of the Politeka internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the expert, now, having received a war on its territory, Ukraine will still not be able to apply for membership in the Alliance.
“If we understand that NATO does not and will not give us security guarantees, and membership in NATO is a deferred prospect,” Putin achieved his goal by vetoing Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the EU. Because if the choice is Minsk or war, we did not want to return the DPR and LPR because we believed that this would block our path to NATO, so we chose war.
But Russia’s war against Ukraine blocked our path to NATO. We could have arrived with Minsk to what we have reached now, but only through a war and the loss of more territories...
Security agreements - this means that there are no security agreements in NATO, there is a war, there is a loss of territories. But we move on - the path to NATO is still blocked, the path to the EU is blocked by Polish farmers, and Hungarian farmers are next in line, and so on.
Why was it blocked? Because with such an agrarian economy, neither French farmers, nor Polish farmers, and so on, will want to hire you. Because with such a large agricultural economy, the European Union will be forced to spend 90% of all its agricultural subsidies...
We could not have joined NATO without a war, without Donbass going to Russia, without Kherson and Zaporozhye, without so many lives - well, a lot of losses in manpower,” Karasev concluded.
