The Verkhovna Rada deputies who addressed the Patriarch of Constantinople with a request to create an autocephalous Orthodox Church in Ukraine should be excommunicated and anathematized.
Member of the Ukrainian parliament of previous convocations Vladimir Oleynik stated this today on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“We have to be consistent. All deputies who voted and Poroshenko should be excommunicated until they revoke their signatures. And then – anathematize,” Oleinik said.
On June 16, the Verkhovna Rada adopted an appeal to Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople with a request to grant autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
