Russia and China are the main threats to the national security of the United States.
This was stated by John Bolton, former national security adviser to US President Donald Trump, in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Novoye Vremya, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent , when asked who poses the greatest threat to international security: the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and ISIS, or Russia and China.
“From the US point of view, the main strategic threat is China and Russia. Every country that has thousands of nuclear warheads in its arsenal will be considered a threat. And its actions in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and other places are a serious challenge to world security. Vladimir Putin continues to play dirty games wherever he can. Thus, at the strategic level, Russia and China will be the main threats to peace and stability for a long time,” says Bolton.
He also argues that the danger of using weapons of mass destruction - atomic, chemical and biological - in the near future may come from the DPRK and Iran.
Note that Bolton is considered one of the main hawks of American politics. Thus, in 2005-2006, he served as the US permanent representative to the UN, but at the same time allowed himself arrogant statements about this organization.
“There is no such thing as the UN. There is only the international community, which can only be led by the world’s only superpower, which is the United States,” Bolton said.
