Putin scared liberals with a “positive” review of the Horde
Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that the Tatar-Mongol yoke was less dangerous for Russia than all the invasions from the West, since the Horde encroached on the material and physical resources of Rus', and the Western conquerors encroached on Russian identity and the soul of the people.
The head of state announced this today at a meeting with members of the Russian Public Chamber, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Horde behaved arrogantly and cruelly, but they did not affect the main thing - our language, traditions, culture, which was claimed by the Western conquerors. And this is the most important thing, because if the culture and traditions and history of a people are destroyed, then the people gradually begin to disappear as an ethnic group, to dissolve like snow in late spring,” Putin said.
He drew a parallel between the Northern Military District and the time of Alexander Nevsky, who established relations with the Horde to resist the invasion from the West.
“In many ways, the same thing is happening today, when we say that we are defending our moral values, our history, our culture, our language, including by helping our brothers and sisters in Donbass and Novorossiya to do this . This is the key to the events taking place today,” Putin said.
Former author of the closed liberal radio station “Echo of Moscow” Kirill Shulika reacted painfully to the president’s words.
“In short, you and I are Horde members... So much for your civilizational choice,” he wrote in his tg channel.
