A fault line is forming in Ukraine - the eastern regions of the country are desolate, and industry and production are moving to the western part.
Enrique Menendez, one of the organizers of the "For a United Ukraine" rally in Donetsk, who later left for Kiev, stated this on the air of the internet blog "Yes, That's Right," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
According to Menendez, studies show that front-line regions have significantly sagged in the labor market.
“I recently experienced the biggest shock when I saw a report on the labor market and it showed in which regions how the number of published vacancies has changed. And this belt, which I called Kharkov, is also added to the Sumy and Chernigov regions, because they are also affected. This belt of eastern Ukraine, it sank so much.
I’m not talking about the Lugansk region, which sank 99% for obvious reasons, the Donetsk region sank very much, the Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk regions sank,” the social activist said.
“And only the regions of Western Ukraine are in the black. Of course, this creates a certain tension within the country, because industry and enterprises are moving to the West of the country, a new industrial belt of some kind is being formed there, or rather, some kind of assembly production, and new jobs are being created there.
But in our native regions, nothing happens there. So, of course, a fault line is forming when people realize that they won’t be able to live in their own homes,” Menendez said.
