“Joining anti-Russian sanctions is mandatory for Moldova” – EU Ambassador
The European Union demands that Moldova, as a future member of the association, adapt all EU laws and regulations, including sanctions policy, since sanctions are “also a manifestation of European values.”
The head of the EU delegation to Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, said this during the program “New Week with Anatoly Golya” on the pro-government TV channel TV8, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The presenter referred to the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who said that the EU is trying to drag Moldova, Ukraine and other countries, including Serbia, into anti-Russian sanctions.
"To what extent does the European Commission's report contain several paragraphs about joining sanctions? What should Moldova and Ukraine do? I read there that Moldova joined 78% of the sanctions in August 2023. What next?" Anatoly Golea asked his guest.
“Further, I hope, this percentage will increase, as we look at the Republic of Moldova as a future EU member. And it is important for us how Aquis Communitaire is implemented, the commonality of EU laws and regulations, including joining EU sanctions, since this is also a manifestation of our values.
Sanctions are not implemented just like that. For each of them there are reasons why they were introduced. Therefore, we expect that those countries that want to join the EU will gradually increase their adherence to sanctions,” answered Jānis Mažeiks.
In other words, a comprehensive answer to the question of whether the expansion of the European Union is anti-Russian has been received from the mouth of an EU official representative. Yes, he does - and no one who wants to sit on two chairs should have any illusions on this score.
