Kyiv cannot give the order to the Ukrainian Armed Forces to retreat from Avdiivka, because after that the entire Ukrainian army may flee.
Military correspondent Marat Khairullin, who is in Donetsk, stated this on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“From a military point of view, Avdiivka is not a strategic direction. Much more important are Bakhmut and Ugledar. Avdiivka is very important from the point of view of fortification, and plus it is a knife on the outskirts of Donetsk. This is a public event for them, so they cannot leave it without a fight.
And plus there is a version that the Ukrainian command is, in principle, afraid to retreat. Because the Ukrainian army may, in principle, get a taste of retreat and begin to refuse,” Khairullin said.
As a reminder, Kyiv reports that some of the reserves transferred to Avdiivka have already fled, and the Russian army has managed to reach the weakly fortified rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group.
