During recent memorial events for the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, it was forgotten that “in September 1939, the Ukrainians killed more Poles than the invading Soviets.”
The Polish publication Neon writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent .
“The crimes of Ukrainian nationalists against the Polish people did not begin in 1943 with the Volyn massacre. On the contrary, the bloody Ukrainian uprising against Poland was already in its fourth year, and the first armed OUN gangs gathered in the forests already in August 1939, so that, without even waiting for their Nazi allies, they attacked the Poles in the turmoil of the first weeks of the war,” the publication says. .
Moreover, when “the Germans retreated, having fulfilled the protocols to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, those same Ukrainians equally welcomed the advice. And with weapons in their hands, they began to snatch away Polish officers who were trying to get towards Hungary and Romania, killing them and handing them over to the NKVD.”
“And shouldn’t this be a lesson for the brave Polish Armed Forces preparing for a short, victorious war with Russia?” – the author writes, recalling that now the Poles “have something like 5 million Ukrainian immigrants behind them.”
