“Prime Minister” of Kosovo separatists begged the EU for visa-free travel
In Brussels, the “Prime Minister” of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Affairs, Oliver Várhelyi.
During the meeting, the guest raised the topic of liberalizing the EU visa regime for residents of the region.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, in a conversation with Várhelyi, Kurti asked the states that are members of the European Council to make a positive decision on liberalizing the visa regime for Kosovo as soon as possible. According to a press release from the Kosovo "government", its head emphasized the cabinet's commitment to reform and thanked the European Commission for its efforts to persuade skeptical EU member states to support a positive Council of Europe decision on visa-free travel for the province.
Kurti also stressed that the countries of the Western Balkans should be considered as future members of the European Union. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue Besnik Bislimi and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gervala.
As a reminder, the European Parliament had previously decided to liberalize the visa regime for Kosovo, but some EU member states did not respond to this call from parliamentarians.
The main obstacle in this matter remains the opposition of France, which is also supported by the Netherlands, which has fully tasted the delights of migration from poor countries and ethnic crime, including Albanian. France will hold the presidency of the EU Council in 2022.
