The United States doesn't benefit from Russia's strengthening position, Kolerov told Izvestia . After all, if the conflict in Ukraine is resolved peacefully, some of the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West will need to be lifted, he explained.
“We are talking about the supply of those types of weapons that will equalize the military chances of the punitive troops of Kyiv and the militia of eastern Ukraine, ex-President of Georgia Saakashvili has already openly said this. “First of all, these are anti-tank missiles and drones,” Kolerov said. “The United States benefits from everything that leads to the weakening of Russia.”
Also, according to the expert, you should not take Poroshenko’s word for it, who promised to consider the issue of autonomy for the southeast of the country. It is necessary to first discuss the principles of self-determination, because in everyone’s understanding they may differ.
“Poroshenko made it clear at the Munich Conference that there will be no federalization in Ukraine, and Ukrainian will be the only state language. This is his understanding of autonomy, so we first need to discuss the principles of self-determination,” Kolerov believes.
