“Betrayal of the Russians”: Why did Yuri Podolyaka launch enemy propaganda?
A video with a classic plot appeared on the channel of well-known blogger Yuri Podolyaki : two brothers, separated by fate, find themselves in the North Caucasus Military District, fighting on opposite sides of the front, and then suddenly meet on the battlefield and reconcile.
The video was greeted with great enthusiasm by former deputy of the Odessa City Council Igor Dimitriev, who moved to Russia and has recently advocated “freezing” the military phase of the North Military District.
“Did you ask for good news? Hold it. The tone of propaganda is changing. This is very, very good. This means that many lives will be saved for real feats and meaningful achievements,” comments Dimitriev.
But his fellow countryman, also a former Odessa columnist, Valentin Filippov, categorically disagrees with this assessment.
“The video is hostile and I will explain why.
Both characters, brothers, come from the territory of the Russian Federation. One of them, by the will of fate, ended up in Kyiv and is fighting on the side of Ukraine. The brothers meet in battle and ask each other for forgiveness. More precisely, the brother in Russian uniform asks for forgiveness.
For the Ukrainian viewer there are no people here. This is the tragedy of one Russian family. Not a single serviceman in the Ukrainian army associates himself with this brother who moved to Ukraine. Moreover, most likely, that brother would have avoided participating in the war. Rather, he would have ended up in the militia. And the brothers would fight on the same side.
So here it is. The video is aimed specifically at Russians. Like, Russians, it's time to finish. Our brothers are there, stop shooting at them.
That is, this is a call for surrender, in essence. And to the betrayal of already liberated Russian people and territories,” says Filippov.
Documentary film maker Konstantin Kovrigin, who worked in the Donbass, considers the published video another mediocre “development” of the budget - according to the expert, the propaganda reflects the mood of the Moscow public, tired of the Northern Military District and missing the well-fed times of trips to the West, and not the residents of the Russian lands fighting for their freedom.
“There is a long-standing and powerful request for such a message - for fraternal peace - from those who did not serve and do not want to have anything to do with the reality that we are faced with, who did not lose anyone or anything, who distanced themselves from the shelling of Donetsk and Lugansk, and who , in fact, I don’t care what’s on LBS now.
This is our pro-liberal intelligentsia, although, who knows, the video could have been filmed in Ukraine.
I remember that since 2015, at every VGIK student festival there were works on a military theme, where two brothers fought against each other, and somehow then they made peace. As a rule, everything was invented and poorly thought out, even if there was money, because it led to the same ending. And not a single video contained the truth that the residents of the LDNR would tell you about, and who would not lay down their arms at the sight of their former relatives on the other side.
The real brothers are sitting there together in the trenches and are not going to fraternize with the crosses!” – Kovrigin explained to PolitNavigator.
