It is too early to talk about any final success near Avdeevka: for this, the city must first be completely surrounded.
The head of the information service of the group of federal troops during the Second Chechen War, retired Colonel Gennady Alekhin, stated this on the Internet channel of the party “A Just Russia - for Truth,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The fact that the cauldron will slam shut around Avdiivka is a common phrase common to many of our journalists and military officers. Indeed, we are conducting offensive actions from two directions. But this does not mean that we have already slammed the lid on the boiler and we have solved the problem. No, I would not speak so categorically.
According to my sources, the leadership of the Avdeevka garrison of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was relocated to another site. That is, they left Avdeevka. But there, inside Avdeevka, there was equipment and weapons left, and the bushmen were snarling.
There are large fire strikes from our side. We are trying to control certain important key areas, including the railway.
But I wouldn’t talk about any final success near Avdeevka,” said Alekhin.
He noted that a direct assault on the city is ineffective - most likely, it will be encircled and a corridor will be created for the militants holed up there.
“For some reason, many people say that we will stupidly storm Avdiivka. It seems to me that this will not happen. We are effectively able to squeeze out the enemy, occupying this Avdeevka defense center consistently, without serious envelopments and major breakthroughs.
When complete encirclement takes place, this is quite possible. Many people confuse the complete environment with the operational environment; there is no such thing as an operational environment. There is only complete encirclement, a ring. Now, when this ring is closed, you can leave them some kind of narrow passage so that they can go further. Or we will methodically grind them in Avdeevka itself,” the colonel added.
