Oleg Nazarenko, General Director of the All-Ukrainian Association of Automobile Importers and Dealers, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
According to him, this happened for several reasons.
“Why (cars became cheaper)? Firstly, due to the impoverishment of the population. The dollar exchange rate has jumped, and there are people who took out a car on credit and can no longer pay for it. Or they can’t buy fuel at a price that has tripled. Secondly, due to the influx of Crimean cars - after the annexation of Crimea by Russia, prices for Crimean cars fell sharply, but they were registered in Ukraine and almost all of them were sold here at a cheaper price. Thirdly, taking advantage of the fact that now there are a lot of scam companies that offer cars with foreign registration, and since the old traffic police were disbanded and the new one still has no experience, and today, according to informal estimates of customs officers, 400-500 thousand cars have been imported into the country, which They drive with foreign license plates. All this led to a fall in car prices in Ukraine,” says the expert.
