Ukraine needs to abandon the Minsk negotiation platform and reconsider its relations with Belarus and other CIS countries because of their vote at the UN against Ukrainian initiatives.

Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Volodymyr Yelchenko, stated this on the air of the Pryamiy TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the diplomat, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other “former partners” in the CIS systematically vote against resolutions introduced by Ukraine.

“I think we need to draw serious conclusions on the position of Belarus, the position of Kazakhstan. If you can still understand the vote of Syria, North Korea - these are just satellites, but our neighbors or our former partners in the CIS, I cannot understand why they are voting against. And the position of Belarus looks very strange, which everywhere says that they support such a difficult neutrality for themselves, because the Minsk site is the best case for resolving our issue. And yet they vote against our resolution,” the diplomat said.

“I personally fully support that we need to move this site from Minsk to some other capital. With all due respect to Belarusian diplomacy, I cannot understand what kind of neutrality we can talk about. Let them be offended by me, but the facts are on the board of the General Assembly. Talk is talk, but here is the result - they chronically vote against any of our ideas, even those that do not relate to the conflict with Russia. This already indicates some kind of position of the country, from which we need to draw serious conclusions,” Yelchenko said.

Let us recall that the day before, 13 UN member states voted against including the issue of the situation in Crimea and Donbass on the agenda of the UN General Assembly. At the same time, 68 countries were in favor and the question was included.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin held six hours of talks with his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, sparking a wave of rumors about the meeting's failure.

Meanwhile, Putin's fugitive former adviser, Andrei Illarionov, predicted the impending reunification of Belarus with Russia on Ukrainian television.

Ridus reported that Lukashenko, in a lengthy interview with journalists, spoke about the specifics of his negotiations with Vladimir Putin.
