There are enough “hawks” in the Russian elite who advocate an even tougher policy than Vladimir Putin, so with the change of the Russian President, nothing will change for Ukraine.
Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly stated this on Channel 4, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Chaly, the goal of Putin and the Russian leadership is to restore Russia within the borders of the empire.
“This path has been going on for a long time. And now these are really imperial roots - to restore not the Soviet Union, but to become the next stage of development as an empire, and without the countries that were once in this empire, and then in the Soviet Union, this is impossible. Therefore, it is a very established goal to do this through conquest and expansion around oneself.
It's not just Putin. When they expect and say that someone else will come and everything will work out - nothing like that. There are hawks in Russia worse than Putin,” Chaly said.
Previously famous Kyiv political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky said Ukraine has 3–4 years left to level relations with the Russian Federation. After current President Vladimir Putin, a tougher politician will come to power in Russia.
