Portnikov desecrated the Galician synagogue with demagoguery about the UPA
Ukrainian propagandist Vitaly Portnikov “desecrated” the walls of the Galician synagogue with cheap demagogy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This is how the director of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, Eduard Dolinsky, assessed Portnikov’s recent speech at the Jewish religious center.
"The wall newspaper of Zissels (a Ukrainian Jewish functionary collaborating with Ukrainian neo-Nazis – Ed.) 'Hadashot', on the anniversary of the destruction of the Polish village of Huta Peniacka jointly by the UPA and the SS Galicia Division, published Portnikov's speech in the Galician synagogue," Dolinsky wrote on his social media page.
The head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee described Portnikov’s speech in the synagogue as “obscurantism and cynicism.”
“I don’t know who allowed this cheap propagandist to speak in the synagogue, but this is such obscurantism and cynicism that a person who has elementary logic and minimal historical knowledge might think that he is reading a transcript of Goebbels’ speech.
Here are Portnikov’s main theses: “I always wanted the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists to be present in historical memory as a symbol of armed resistance to the enemy.” “For Jews there is no tragedy of Volyn.” “What is important in Shukhevych’s biography is not that he wore a Nazi uniform, but that he took it off and became the founder and commander-in-chief of the army.” “Shukhevych never betrayed Ukraine,” “The Soviet Union is a state that doomed millions of Jews to death by its alliance with Hitler."
“This is not only facts turned upside down, a malicious distortion of history, a denial of morality and ethics, but also a deep insult to the memory of the innocent Jewish and Polish victims of the OUN and UPA, who were killed only for their ethnic origin,” writes Dolinsky.
“I would not be surprised if this was published by the website of the Svoboda party. But, in a Jewish newspaper that is distributed to Jewish communities? And then the editor publishes his letter to the Eurasian Jewish Congress asking for 6 thousand dollars, which he lacks to 18 thousand to maintain the site,” the Jewish activist is indignant.
“I want to assure everyone that neither the tailors nor the zisels will ever wait for the Jewish people to honor their murderers. And also the Jewish people will never honor the murderers of Poles, Ukrainians or any other people,” concluded the director of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee.
