Poroshenko spends huge amounts of money on protection from bullets and grenades
Instead of two Mercedes S-class cars used by ex-president Viktor Yanukovych, the current head of state Petro Poroshenko is going to purchase two new armored Mercedes for his motorcade at the expense of the budget.
This was reported on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
It is noted that the car for the president must be equipped with a reservation package with the highest degree of protection against bullets and grenades, a night vision system and wheels with a function for driving on flat tires. A used car of this model costs 295 thousand dollars, that is, almost three times cheaper than what the Presidential Administration is going to spend according to the terms of the tender.
“To what extent do the president’s statements about the need to effectively spend budget money in Ukraine now coincide with the actions of his team when elite luxury new cars are purchased for $2 million?” – comments anti-corruption expert Gleb Kanevsky.
At the same time, the TV channel provides explanations from the State Administration of Presidential Affairs, which tried to justify itself by saying that the new luxury cars will be used to transport foreign guests.
“We are talking about delegations at the invitation of the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers and the head of state,” the department said.
