Poroshenko unleashed SBU on Medvedchuk
Chairman of the political council of the Ukrainian party “Opposition Platform - “For Life” Viktor Medvedchuk did not live up to the hopes placed on him by the Kyiv regime.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this in an interview with the Kyiv radio “New Time”, answering the question of how he feels about Medvedchuk’s peace plan, which provides for a free economic zone in the territories of Donbass not controlled by Kiev.

“De facto, Mr. Medvedchuk represents the Russian Federation and Vladimir Putin. There was only one motive for appointing him to the negotiation group: it was the only channel of communication with Putin, and it turned out to be ineffective. Determining what and how Ukraine should do is not at all the competence of Mr. Medvedchuk. He had one function - the release of hostages located both in the basements of the occupied territories and in Russian prisons,” the president said.
He noted that the last time an exchange of prisoners took place was in December 2017, and therefore, according to the head of the Ukrainian state, Medvedchuk’s function cannot be called effective.
“Putin is keeping our people to keep Ukraine and the Ukrainian leadership on the hook. Will not work. I have already addressed the Security Service of Ukraine with a request to consider the advisability of further using Mr. Medvedchuk in the format of a humanitarian group for the release of hostages. He is clearly incompetent in this process,” Poroshenko added.
