Poroshenko lost US patronage

Petro Poroshenko lost patronage from the United States by making a mistaken bet on Hillary Clinton during the election campaign and helping her by releasing compromising information on Donald Trump's campaign staff.

Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

There is a feeling that our president has lost the protection of the United States. His patrons are weakening. And the weakening of this external patronage in Ukrainian politics is perceived as a “fas” command. I think that by the end of February there will be large-scale informational public political attacks on the president. It will be very difficult for him. Everyone understands that he found himself “roofless” and that for now he is not a handshake for Trump,” the expert said.
