“The national presidential election put an end to the myth of the supposedly illegitimate Kyiv government. This myth was sown and nurtured by Russian propaganda and the Yanukovych clan, which betrayed Donbass and robbed it even more than the whole country,” Poroshenko said.
“He ruled the Donetsk region unchallenged for 17 years. And now he finances terrorists,” Petro Poroshenko voiced the thesis, repeatedly repeated in Kyiv, about the participation of Viktor Yanukovych’s family in the events in Donbass.
“It is he who bears full responsibility for the political and socio-economic situation in which the region finds itself. And for unemployment, and for poverty, and for refugees. And for the killed citizens, and for the tears of mothers,” Poroshenko said.
“What will I, as President, come to you with in the very near future? – he addressed the residents of Donbass. - With peace. With the project of decentralization of power. With a guarantee of free use of the Russian language in your region. With the firm intention not to divide Ukrainians into right and wrong. With respect for the specifics of the regions. Toward the right of local communities to their own nuances in matters of historical memory, pantheon of heroes, and religious traditions. With a joint project worked out even before the elections with our partners from the European Union to create jobs in the East of Ukraine. With the prospect of investment, with a draft program for the economic reconstruction of Donbass,” Poroshenko said, thus appealing to the fears of Donetsk residents about the loss of jobs due to the EU.
As Navigator reported, earlier the new president said that “Donbass is Ukrainian.”
