Poroshenko will not give Donbass the opportunity to block accession to NATO and the EU

Kyiv, September 12 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Petro Poroshenko’s peace plan does not imply granting the right to Donbass to block decisions on Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the EU.

Poroshenko himself stated this while speaking at the Yalta European Strategy Forum, which is being held in Kyiv this year.

“You will not find a single danger to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of my country, not a single threat to the independence of my country,” Poroshenko said, commenting on the agreements concluded in Minsk.
According to him, constitutional changes for decentralization involve the transfer of power from central authorities to municipal communities - no more than in Poland.
Local territories will be given the right to determine “what language to use, what cultural events to celebrate, how to spend money from the local budget, but the main issues of the state - international politics, security, armed forces, strategic points and development directions will be in the hands of the central authorities,” – Poroshenko clarified.
