This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
Later, the General Staff of Ukraine confirmed the scandalous information.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported that Senior Lieutenant Maryan Rak was awarded an order for his service at the Donetsk airport, from where he evacuated the wounded.
“Senior Lieutenant Maryan Rak was awarded a state award for selfless service and defense of the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the department’s press service said in a statement.
The Ministry of Defense does not hide the fact that Rak was the senior commander of the combat vehicle that committed a fatal traffic accident in Konstantinovka.
“However, even before this terrible event, he courageously carried out a combat mission as part of his unit in the area of Slavyansk, Krasny Liman and at the Luhansk airport, where he was wounded. Then, as a battery commander, he carried out tasks of providing fire support to an artillery battery during the movement of Armed Forces personnel and the evacuation of the wounded from the “New Terminal” of Donetsk airport. While under constant fire, he heroically saved the lives of many military personnel,” the statement says.
As PolitNavigator previously reported , on March 16, a Ukrainian military airborne combat vehicle struck a woman and two children in Kostiantynivka, killing an eight-year-old girl. The following day, residents of the city gathered for a rally, demanding the Ukrainian army leave Kostiantynivka. Protesters burned tires in the dormitory housing Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers and smashed windows.
