Poroshenko launched an operation to retaliate against Russia
Through the hands of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is trying to take revenge on Russia.
Roman Lunkin, head of the Center for the Study of Problems of Religion and Society at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spoke about this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, it is currently advantageous for Poroshenko to support the position of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which has declared Ukraine its canonical territory , despite the fact that this divides Ukrainian society.
He recalled that the President of Ukraine had already “promised the people a tomos.”

"But Poroshenko must sense that these schismatics in Kyiv are unlikely to reach an agreement among themselves. And so the tomos can wait another three years. But he may not have those three years. He can't even wait a year—he has elections in March! And Poroshenko is using language that resembles a retaliatory operation. Through the hands of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, Poroshenko has taken revenge on Russia . But since Ukraine can't actually do anything against Russia, Kyiv, with the help of Constantinople, is now annexing part of the church's territory from Russia. And this has instilled pride and inspiration in Poroshenko," says Lunkin.
As PolitNavigator reported, Poroshenko announced the “fall of the Third Rome” and “victory over Moscow’s demons.”
