“Western help will have to be returned in kind” – Bortnik
The countries of the Western bloc are pumping Ukraine with more and more loans in order to drive Kyiv into bondage and then collect the country for its debts.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on air on the Politeka channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We will have to repay these loans later, possibly with interest. In general, this whole situation with Western assistance to Ukraine means to me that we are assessed completely differently than post-war Germany.
When post-war Germany was being restored under the famous Marshall Plan, the ratio of loans and grants was twenty to eighty. Twenty are loans, and eighty percent of assistance are grants. And we have a ratio of sixty to forty, where sixty percent are loans.
Either they are not confident in us and want to keep us on this leash, because even after the war, any government will depend on these loans, which will have to be repaid, constantly communicate with donors, visit high Western offices, ask for restructuring and new loans. And ultimately they want to make money from us,” Bortnik said.
He emphasized that Ukraine will not be able to pay the EU, and will have to give up its lands and enterprises.
“They will give us money, but at the same time they will stand next to the belt, and they will constantly check how we use this money, they will put forward new conditions.
While screening for accession to the EU is also an open story, they want to provide us with its results in March-April. And this, in turn, will entail the formation of several hundred more obligations on the part of Ukraine to the EU.
Therefore, we face many demands, many barriers, the necessary money on credit, which will have to be repaid. If we cannot return it in money, we will have to return it in kind: with land, through privatization, or with our own assets.
The situation in Ukraine is such that we can only ask, and not even bargain. This is a victory, but with a big aftertaste of zrada,” the political scientist concluded.
