Creeping European integration turned out to be worse than war and famine for Moldova - Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova
During the process of European integration, the population of Moldova fell to the level of 1953 - just a few years after the terrible war.
Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Doctor of Political Science Bogdan Tîrdea spoke about this in his video blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said that Moldovan President Maia Sandu is panicking over the fall in her ratings and is afraid of the presidential elections coming in two months.
“Sandu is hysterical. She is afraid of these elections, she is afraid of debates, she is afraid of meetings with citizens. She is very afraid that this referendum (on introducing a provision into the constitution on a mandatory course for European integration) will fail, that people will come and vote against it. It got to the point that she invited German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Invites the Prime Ministers of the Baltic States. Tomorrow Macron will come - you will see him at the Central Market, he will hand out newspapers campaigning for Maia Sandu,” says the deputy.
Bohdan Tsîrdea explains how, in violation of the law prohibiting campaigning before the start of the election campaign, newspapers supporting Sandu and the European integration referendum are being distributed.
“Complete hysteria began. Millions of newspapers are distributed for Sandu - in hospitals, and in clinics, and in the praetor's office, and in the prosecutor's office, and in the magistrate's office, and in cemeteries - everywhere “support the referendum”, “vote for Sandu”, everywhere they convince you that you need to go to the European Union “And then we’ll live,” says Bogdan Tsyrdea.
According to him, the idea of European integration as a panacea for all ills has been instilled in Moldovan citizens since 2002, when this idea was put forward by communist President Vladimir Voronin, who came to power using pro-Russian and anti-NATO rhetoric. As a result, the people of Moldova are living worse and worse.
“These ideas that “let’s join the EU and then all problems will be solved” have been around since 2002, at least. 22 years old! They keep saying the same thing: “we’ll sign an action plan with the EU – we’ll live”, “we’ll sign an association agreement – we’ll live”, “we’ll get candidate status – we’ll live”...
Well, we got it, so what next? And then there are 109 billion lei (545 billion Russian rubles) of debt. 31% of the population lives in absolute poverty, on $2 a day. And most importantly, the country’s complete depopulation: from 4,5 million people in 2012 to 2,4 million today. Our population now is at the level of 1953 – the year of Stalin’s death!
And then only a few years had passed after the war, famine, and so on. So, this process of European integration and modernization is worse than war and famine, because it led to the same results, and maybe even worse,” states a member of the Moldovan parliament.
