The Polish president made it clear that there will be no more military support for Ukraine
Poland will primarily spend money on strengthening its own defense capabilities, but Ukraine has already been given enormous resources.
Polish President Andrzej Duda stated this in an interview with Ukrainian Radio, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Duda emphasized that despite this, his country will not refuse to support Ukraine, but made it clear that this will not necessarily be military assistance.
“It is obvious that every state, especially if we say that we are a front-line state in a certain sense, also has a border with Russia - remember, please, that there is a Kaliningrad region, and this is the Polish-Russian border.
Therefore, we are potentially also in danger. Therefore, we have a duty, as the Polish government, to first of all protect our citizens, our security. This is the reason for the enormous expenditures that we have recently been making in Poland on the modernization and rearmament of the Polish army, which already amount to about 4% of our GDP. Almost 159 billion zlotys are huge amounts for our capabilities.
However, I would like to emphasize this; this does not mean that assistance from the Polish authorities to Ukraine, even military assistance, has ended. Because there is other help other than military. Overall, if we add up all the assistance we have provided to date, it amounts to almost 20 billion euros. This is a huge amount for us,” Duda said.
