Kyiv, August 20 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – During the operation to establish control over Ilovaisk, five soldiers of the Donbass National Guard battalion and four soldiers from the Shakhtersk special police battalion were killed.

“Yesterday evening and night, after the death of Ulybka (the call sign of a fighter of the Donbass battalion), four more heroes from the Donbass National Guard battalion died. Also, four heroes died from the Shakhtersk special police battalion,” Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs, wrote on his Facebook page.
Gerashchenko noted that there are street battles in the city, and the Donbass battalion controls half of the city, divided by the railway.
“The remnants of the terrorists have gained a foothold in the other half and are resisting fiercely... Street fighting is the most complex art among all other types of close combat tactics. The enemy can wait for you anywhere and shoot from the attic, from the basement, from the kindergarten. “Terrorists are firing mortars from the part of the city they still control on our side, without understanding where they are hitting – residential buildings or not,” he wrote.
Gerashchenko also said that checkpoints were set up along the perimeter of the city.

As Navigator reported, earlier the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that battles between the ATO forces and the rebels were already taking place on the streets of Ilovaisk and Lugansk.
