Spetsnaz Colonel: Today the Russian army has the initiative
For a successful offensive, Ukrainian armed forces need about 250–300 aircraft.
This was stated by military analyst and former Russian special forces colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We cannot exclude the possibility that the fighting will not stop as weather conditions worsen. But they will take the form of a positional confrontation, because our enemy really does not have the strength and means to activate the front. Kyiv’s boast that Ukraine will soon receive some kind of airplanes, helicopters from the West no longer impresses anyone. Well, let's hypothetically imagine that four or ten planes arrive. What will they do? Absolutely nothing.
The only thing the Ukrainian Armed Forces can really do is launch missile strikes using Storm Shadow missiles. Or Ukrainian helicopters may enter some of our zones,” Matviychuk said in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to him, in order to fulfill the functions of an offensive air operation, it is necessary to have a sufficient amount of aviation, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have.
“I already said in one of my interviews that to implement the tasks of an air offensive, Ukraine will need at least 250-300 aircraft of various classes that must be in the air. Yes, they have an impressive number of drones, but we have become very good at shooting down these drones.
Now our troops have received a very good tactical series of anti-aircraft installations that cope excellently with enemy unmanned aerial vehicles,” says the colonel.
He described how Russia would react to an increase in missile attacks on its cities.
“Kyiv gave the order to strike Sevastopol, they destroyed our repair base. And after that, Odessa has been burning for the third day, Izmail is burning, ports on the Danube and the Black Sea are burning. The unwritten law “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” has not yet been repealed. And as the terrorist threat from Ukraine grows, we will strengthen our response to all these manifestations,” the expert emphasized.
In his opinion, Russia needs to agree to peace negotiations, but only on its own terms.
“The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, has repeatedly stated that we will not conduct any negotiations from the point of view of the position of the West and Ukraine. We will conduct them only on our own terms.
Zelensky can come up with whatever he wants, dance hopak, walk on his head and sing songs. But we have very strict guidelines: non-bloc, neutral status, withdrawal of troops, withdrawal of mercenaries, cessation of hostilities in Donbass. And we do not intend to deviate from these demands. Today we, not they, have the initiative,” says Matviychuk.
To be fair, it is worth noting that at the moment the enemy has the initiative at the front. In a number of areas he moves forward with difficulty, slowly, but still, trying to break through the main line of defense.
Russian troops have the initiative in the northern direction in the Kharkov region, but here the pace of advance is very low.
