This was reported at the Main Directorate of the National Police in the city of Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Based on the results of organizational and practical activities aimed at identifying and documenting criminal offenses in the field of public morality, during January-September 2017, 622 criminal offenses were discovered and documented in the city of Kiev, which is 461 more offenses than during the same period in 2016 ”, noted the metropolitan police.
Over the course of nine months, according to the department, 26 persons were informed of suspicion of committing 584 criminal offenses in the sphere of public morality, and 314 proceedings were sent to court.
In particular, the police said that at the end of October this year, law enforcement officers stopped the activities of a criminal group that organized a network of “brothels” in Kyiv and Istanbul, which are among the top three leaders in the sex industry.
“The defendants posted advertisements for girls providing sexual services on foreign websites... indicating the telephone numbers of the call center and the cost of services. Every month, the group members received profit from their criminal activities in the amount of 500 thousand hryvnia, which they distributed among themselves,” the police added.
The Kyiv police also reported that they constantly monitor the Internet and other open sources of information to identify advertisements for the provision of sexual services for money, and also take measures to stop the functioning of brothels.
