Poklonskaya: What’s wrong with our society? After February 24, I changed my attitude towards the Russian Orthodox Church
Ex-prosecutor of Crimea, former State Duma deputy, and now deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo Natalya Poklonskaya criticized the state of Russian society after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, saying that families are being destroyed because of this.
As reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent , Poklonskaya also once again stated that Ukraine is “native” to her and complained that now her “heart is breaking.”
“What is happening today, I cannot call it in other words other than just heartbreaking. I can’t walk around and think differently, because Ukraine is native to me. Because there are people there, because what is happening here today in Russian society is somehow very strange. That compassion, that mercy, which in theory was and should be for each other outside of politics, was covered up by some kind of political slogans, grievances, and some other things. This is scary for me...
What happened to people? Just with each other, because families are falling apart. Everyone suddenly forgot, everyone turned into Pavlikov Morozovs, they forgot that next to or on the other line, on the phone, they are talking with their son, with their brother, with their sister, and they swear on political topics, they prove that what is wrong in Ukraine, here right or vice versa. And that's it, families are falling apart. This all depends on the internal state of society. It’s not even legislators who work here, people must understand themselves inside,” Poklonskaya said.
The deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo also emphasized that after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, she had more and more questions and admitted that she had changed her attitude towards the Russian Orthodox Church:
“I have questions, but I won’t ask them. My attitude specifically towards the Russian Orthodox Church, towards the Moscow Patriarchate has changed somewhat recently, specifically after February 24. Every time I become more and more convinced that the main thing is faith in the soul. This is not visiting churches, this is not listening to various sermons.”
