Pogrebinsky: After Putin, Ukraine can only get worse
Representatives of the Ukrainian authorities hope in vain that with the departure of Russian President Vladimir Putin from the post of head of state, the Russian Federation’s policy towards Ukraine will improve.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the air of the First Independent TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The idea that Putin will leave and then things can be resolved... well, why, guys, instead of Putin will someone come with whom we can resolve something? Let's say Shoigu comes. Or one of the politicians who are now second rank will come, but nevertheless, with a serious application. Prilepin Zakhar, who took part in the war in Donbass and so on. Will this be better for Ukraine? Now I don’t want to say that this is better for Russia, but I want to say that it is definitely worse for Ukraine,” the expert said.
“Putin is an experienced person, there are a lot of things that he could do, a lot of problems for Ukraine - he doesn’t do it. I think for two reasons. The first reason is that he himself said this, that he is close to the people, he does not want to create problems for the people... The second is that he, I would say, remains a largely pro-European person,” Pogrebinsky said.
Earlier, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovych stated that if Russian President Vladimir Putin falls ill, Ukraine could seize territory in Donbas within three days.
