In Sevastopol, they said goodbye to the commander of the large landing ship "Caesar Kunikov" of the 197th brigade of landing ships of the Black Sea Fleet, captain 3rd rank Alexander Chirva. Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev announced this in his Telegram channel.
“Alexander Grigorievich was born in Sevastopol. Graduated from the branch of the VUNTS Navy "Naval Academy" of the Naval Institute of Radio Electronics named after. A.S. Popova,” the governor wrote. “In 2015 and 2016, he participated in a special operation on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.”
The large landing ship Caesar Kunikov was allegedly in the port of Berdyansk during the emergency at the end of March, when Ukraine hit the landing ship Saratov while unloading ammunition for the MLRS. Then two other landing ships standing next to the Saratov had to urgently move away from the pier. Subsequently, it became known about damage due to the spread of detonated ammunition.
Let us recall that during the liberation of Mariupol, Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Andrei Paliy and the commander of the 810th Separate Guards Order of Zhukov Guard Marine Brigade, Colonel Alexey Sharov, were killed.
