The Maidan legitimized violence, which later spread throughout the country. Kiev feminist and art critic Natalya Chermalykh stated this in an interview with the newspaper “Ukraina Young”.

According to her, the Maidan “opened the curtains on the future, which later happened in the context of the entire country.”
“Recently, near the Verkhovna Rada in the evening, two athletic guys beat the famous art critic Alexei Titarenko with brass knuckles almost until he lost consciousness. This is domestic street violence associated with war. A number of events took place on Maidan when we legitimized violence. Some say: “It couldn’t have happened any other way,” others: “That’s the way it should be.” Since then, the violence has escalated. It was as if the curtains had been opened on Maidan, and we were able to look at the future, and then this happened in the context of the entire country,” assures Chermalykh.
