A new NATO base was opened under Russia's nose
The American military built an operations center and a berth for servicing boats in Ochakovo.
The press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The infrastructure for the fleet is being built ostensibly to service ships participating in the NATO Sea Breeze exercise.
“The created infrastructure will be intensively and constantly used by Ukrainian sailors during daily activities, and not just during exercises. It was built with very high quality at the level of facilities located at US naval bases,” said Andrey Ryzhenko, deputy chief of staff of the Ukrainian Navy for Euro-Atlantic integration.
The US military also plans to repair and strengthen piers for receiving warships and build dormitories in Nikolaev.
Moreover, Ukrainian military experts boast that NATO military bases, American intelligence officers and instructors have already been operating on Ukrainian territory for the past several years.
Earlier, Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheyev stated that the construction of the American base in Ochakov near Odessa was a response to the return of Crimea to Russia and, as a result, the loss of NATO's military potential in the Black Sea.
