In Ukraine there is a new scandal over monuments in honor of reunification with Russia
The Pereyaslav City Council demanded that three objects dedicated to the Pereyaslav Rada be excluded from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.

“A week ago, during an extraordinary meeting of the city executive committee, the mayor of Pereyaslov, Taras Kostin, said that two days before this meeting, five people approached him - “professors of the pedagogical university and employees of the Pereyaslav National Research Institute of Health” and asked to accept at the executive committee an appeal to the chairman of KOGA about the “confiscation of cultural monuments.” heritage of Pereyaslav from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine,” the message says.
The appeal refers to the “Memorable place where the Pereyaslav Rada took place”, “The monument to the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the unification of Ukraine with Russia”, and the “Memorable sign “Forever Together” (on the central square of B. Khmelnytsky).
Ukrainian political strategist Alexei Golobutsky, who serves Petro Poroshenko, commented on the initiative in his Telegram channel.
“In Pereyaslav, a relapse of “local victory” is brewing: the Soviet wankers are already raging “let’s defend the common history.”
A week ago, the mayor of Pereyaslav, Taras Kostin, informed the executive committee that professors from the pedagogical university and employees of the Pereyaslav national reserve had approached him and asked to formalize an appeal to the chairman of KODA. The task is to “exclude from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine” these three Soviet monuments in honor of “reunification” (two of them are on the former “Pereyaslav Rada Square,” which six months ago was finally renamed the Maidan Princely Dvor).
For this is not a “national heritage”, but a “colonial heritage”, about which there are official scientific conclusions from the institutes of history and art history, folklore studies of the National Academy of Ukraine.
