The fruits of American reform: A catastrophe in Ukrainian medicine
In Ukraine, as a result of the “reform” carried out by the former head of the Ministry of Health, American Ulyana Suprun, a catastrophic situation in medicine has developed - qualified medical workers are quitting en masse and leaving the country. We are already talking about a shortage of about seventy thousand nurses and more than ten thousand doctors.
MP Mykhailo Makarenko stated this on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent . The politician believes this is due to the widespread underfunding of the healthcare sector.
“You can imagine what is happening in our medicine. The second stage of this reform is underway, hospitals are left without medicines, professionals are leaving.
Yesterday I asked the minister a question, I said, what do you think will happen next? ...Seventy thousand only lack qualified nurses - they left, and 11 thousand doctors. And everything continues with us.
They created a coronavirus fund of 64 billion and only 5% of the 64 billion went to medicine. Where did they go? They said that 40% went to roads. For whom will you build roads when there are no people?
This is how we do everything... Doctors leave because no one is looking after them - they buy this, that, that themselves - unprotected,” Makarenko said.
